Amond Mani Dixit

Executive Director, National Society for Earthquake Technology, Nepal

Dr. Dixit studied Mineral exploration in Russia, Geotechnical Engineering in Bangkok, Management in the US, and a PhD in from Japan. His 44 years of professional experience covers stints with government of Nepal, private engineering consultancy, and with Tribhuvan University. In 1994 he founded the National Society for Earthquake Technology Nepal (NSET) and has since served as its General secretary and Executive Director. He has worked extensively in Nepal and many Asian countries for disaster risk reduction and earthquake response, and has served as member in numerous national and international scientific, governing and advisory boards. Mr. Dixit served as a Member of Advisory or governing boards of many international initiatives. He is a founder of the Asian Disaster reduction and Response Network (ADRRN), a network of 56 Asian NGOs working in aspects of disaster risk reduction, and sits in its governing board since its inception in 2000. 

Arhan Sthapit

Assistant Professor, Tribhuvan University School of Management

Associated with the Faculty of Management, Tribhuvan University as Asst Professor since 2012, Dr. Sthapit is a management practitioner-turned academician. He was educated in management and journalism in Nepal, India and USA, and was awarded PhD degree by Jodhpur National University, India in 2014.

Birajman Karmacharya

Biraj M Karmacharya, a physician by training with post-graduation in Tropical Medicine completed PhD (Epidemiology, 2015) and MPH (Global Health-Leadership, Policy and Management, 2017) from the University of Washington as a Fulbright fellow. He founded and has been leading the Department of Community Programs at Dhulikhel Hospital-Kathmandu University, Nepal since 2006. Dr. Biju Thapaliya

Surendra Phuyal

Surendra Phuyal, 40, has been working with BBC Nepali, one of the language services of the BBC World Service, since October 2006. He is a general affairs correspondent-cum-producer, covering day-to-day political, social, environmental and other issues for Nepali Radio, Online and Digital. As a bilingual correspondent he also contributes materials in English. Before joining the BBC, he worked as the India (New Delhi) Bureau Chief for The Kathmandu Post, Kantipur and other outlets owned by Kantipur Media Group.

In his career spanning nearly 20 years, he’s won a number of journalism awards including: Kantipur Journalism Award, Nepal Tourism Board’s Travel Writer of the Year 2001. After winning Alfred Friendly Press Fellowships in 2003, he worked as a staff writer at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in Pennsylvania, USA.  In 2008, he was selected as a Spring Jefferson Fellow at the East West Centre Hawaii. Surya Nath Upadhyay

Former Chief Commissioner for the commission for Investigation of the Abuse of Authority

Surya Nath Upadhyay has a distinguished career as a civil servant. He entered the civil service in 1970 and served the government in various capacities for thirty four years. He served as Secretary to the Government, Secretary to the Constitution Drafting Commission 1990, and Chief Commissioner For the Investigation of the Abuse of Authority (CIAA).Presently, he is the member of Eminent Person Group for Nepal India Relations and General Secretary to Jalshrot Vikas Sanstha.  He is a lawyer by training and holds LLM degree in Law from University of London. He has authored books on corruption and water resources. His area of Interests are anti- corruption drive and water resources development.

Suraj Vaidya

President, Vaidya's Organization of Industries and Trading Houses (VOITH)

Mr. Suraj Vaidya is an entrepreneur, business leader and a passionate advocate for economic growth and reform in Nepal. According to him, "Economy should speak louder than politics." A graduate of MBA from George Mason University, Mr. Vaidya runs industries in Nepal based on agriculture, construction, education and trading sector as the President of Vaidya’s Organization of Industries and Trading Houses (VOITH), which was established in 1967. Dr. Ram Thapaliya

Chairman, Institute of crisis/ Disasters Management (TU)

Dr. Ram Thapaliya is faculty member of the Master's Program in Conflict, Peace and Development Studies and Crisis Management Study at Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He holds a degree in Law from Tribhuvan University, and a Master's degree in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University (USA). He has been awarded a Ph.D. in Crisis Management from Atlantic International University (USA). His research interests include the international security, identity based conflicts and crisis management of both natural and human-made disasters.

He is an advocate of Nepal's strategic foreign policy engagement and has served as an international secretary of the Party's Foreign Relations Department and is also a Goodwill Ambassador of the USA, as awarded by former President Bill Clinton. He has developed security, disaster risk management educational curriculum and materials and has experience in utilizing the course curriculum and materials in working with local and national stakeholders.

Currently he holds the position of chairman at the Institute of Crisis/Disasters Management (TU) Masters in Crisis and Disasters Management Study Program. During 2015, Dr. Thapaliya served as the Honorary Disaster Management/and Security Advisor to the former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

Mr. Saurav Ram Joshi has been in the field of Skills and Employment Sector for more than two decades. He is an Engineer by qualification, a Project Manager by profession, a Trainer/Facilitator by experience, Consultant by demand, a Researcher by will, and SMALL (Sport-Music-Art-Literature Learning) man by hobby. Mr. Joshi was former Director of Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT). Kishore Nepal

Veteran Journalist and writer

Kishore Nepal, a veteran journalist and writer from Nepal, is renowned for his several works of fiction and non-fiction. As a most active journalist and editor during the insurgency, he covered the decade-long war between Maoist and the state from the remotest areas of the country. Trained as a development journalist from Stanford University, USA, he had been the Chairman of the national television network, Nepal Television. He also served as the Press Advisor to the Prime Minister Krishna Prasad Bhattarai. Having edited several dailies and weeklies of national repute for decades, the sexagenarian writer, of late, is engaged in writing newspaper-columns and books. He is the most sought after columnist of the country and is well-known for his sharp political commentaries. Balaram Chapagain

Born in 1974, Mr. Bal Ram Chapagain has over 16 years of experience in the fields of teaching, training, research and consulting. Currently, he is associated with Central Department of Management, Tribhuvan University (TU), Kirtipur as an Assistant Professor.He has rendered dozens of training and consultancy services in corporate social responsibility (CSR), strategic planning, leadership, conflict management and negotiation skills. Rupesh krishna Shrestha

Rupesh has broad experience as Assistant Professor and visiting faculty of more than 8 years of progressive professional experiences in design, implementation and supervision of education, training, and research projects in the field of marketing, entrepreneurship and organizational development at the graduate level. His specific areas of expertise include New Venture Creation, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Consumer Behavior, and Product & Brand Management,   and teach these courses to MBA students at Kathmandu University School of Management. He is also the co-founder of Idea Studio a national level entrepreneurship and innovation development platform in Nepal.

Gem Tshering

Managing Director, Bhutan Power corporation

Mr. Gem Tshering was appointed as the Managing Director of Bhutan Power Corporation on July 1st, 2015. He was born on 1st September at Dawakha (Dogar Gewog), Paro in 1959. He has a B.Tech from Madras, India (1988) and Masters in Planning and Policy from AIIT, Thailand (1994). He started his career with the Department of Agriculture from October 1988 till 1991 and then was transferred to erstwhile Department of Power, Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI). He was later deputed to CHPC by RCSC and worked in different capacities from Asst. Engineer (safety) to technical PA to SE (O&M).

He was then transferred to Transmission as AEE till he resumed the post of SE (T). With the unbundling of the power sector, he was transferred with Lock, Stock and Barrel from CHPC to Transmission System as the General Manager, Transmission Department, BPC in 2002. He worked as the GM, TD from 2002 till 2006 and then was promoted as Executive Director, DCD and served from 2006 till 2010. In 2010 he was promoted as Director of Transmission Wing till he resumed the position of MD, BPC.

Ram Krishna Pokharel

Mr. Pokharel has a wide range of experience of working in development and financial sectors. Mr. Pokharel started his career from Agriculture Development Bank in seventies and took leadership role in Biogas Company and Rural Microfinance Bank Ltd. Currently, he is at the helm of affairs of  Citizen Investment Trust ( which manages government and non government sector employee pension and retirement fund along with contributory insurance fund of government employee ( civil, public school teachers, army and police) of Nepal, having total volume of over USD 950 Million and has trust of over six hundred thousand customers. He has been actively working for setting up new investment avenues for expanding business of its CIT and expanding its business in capital market by undertaking the role of stock dealer and market maker. In his leadership, CIT has prepared its own long term strategic plan to invest in mega projects for economic growth and employment generation by collaborating with foreign and domestic fund management companies. Prior to joining CIT, he worked as a Project Manager of UNDP project in Afghanistan and as National Programme Manager of UNDP projects of Nepal. The blend of experiences in financial and development sectors has uniquely positioned him to provide a visionary leadership role in various capacities for national and international organizations.

Mr. Rabi Raj Thapa is the chief academic Coordinator of Armed Police Force Command and Staff College and member secretary of the center for security and Justice Studies and Nepal Institute of strategic studies. He is recognized as the founding member of several government institutions such as Armed Police Force- Nepal (2000), Narcotic Control Bureau (1991) Before his retirement as a Security Consultant (Additional Inspector General of Armed Police force-Nepal) to the ministry of Home Affairs, he served the Nepal police for 25 years.. In his retied life he is more involved in research studies on security, criminal justice, police and law enforcement field of studies.  His publications include Law Enforcement in post Federal Democratic Nepal, “Sector Reform in Nepal. He brings in the experience of working with various national and international agencies like DFID, UK, Save the Children-UK, National Human Right Commission in Nepal.

Rabindranath G. Bhandurge

At present he serves as the  country manager for ABS Quality Evaluation, India. Prior to joining as a country manger he was the lead auditor, regional manager and operations manger for the same company. Mr. Nepal holds a Master degree in industrial engineering and management, B. Tech in mechanical engineering and Post graduate diploma in project management. He is also qualified as a quality auditor for ISO 9001. He possesses more than 30 years of extensive technical and managerial experience, Energy & Energy Efficiency, DSM, Capacity Building and Trainer, including last 15 years of exclusive experience in energy & energy efficiency activities including transmission line project where he is working at present. His experience covers a broad spectrum of services including: establishment of energy efficiency cell, cross border transmission line feasibility study, capacity building and training, energy audits, monitoring and evaluation of the energy projects implemented etc.

Mr. Nepal has a long track record working with the government organization, chamber of commerce & industry, international organizations and donors, manufacturing industries, of Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tanzania and Afghanistan. Recently he has completed an assignment of 2 years as an Energy Efficiency Advisor in Afghanistan ACEP project under USAID/IRG contract

Binod Krishna Shrestha

Rajendra Dhoj Joshi


Rajendra Dhoj Joshi holds Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. He served at the Institute of Engineering in various capacities including Professor of Electrical Engineering and the Dean. Subsequently he joined the World Bank and worked for the education sector in Nepal, Russia, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, India and Bhutan, and for the power sector in Nepal. He has the experience of managing the entire spectrum of engineering education. Similarly, he designed and supervised projects in general education in its entirety. His key focus has been in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of education service delivery through reforms. He is associated with numerous critical reforms in the education sector. At present, he is engaged in the preparation for the establishment of the National Institute of Engineering and Technology envisioned to develop as a world-class university as a ADB consultant. He is also supporting a number of World Bank education projects.  

Khadga B. Bisht

Erg. Mr.Bisht earns master in economics and business administration. Mr.  Bisht is recognized as the founder member and immediate past president of Independent Power Producer's association. He has over 25 years of robust experience in sector of power and energy. Mr. Bishta served as the Plant Manager of Khimti I Hydropower Project- the first and largest FDI project in Nepal. Under his initiation and leadership in project areas of Himal Power Limited, he was instrumental in electrifying 10,000 households, constructing 1035kW mini hydro plants, forming a rural electric cooperative and providing rural community work in the Khimti Project area. Mr. Bisht is the author of the most comprehensive book on hydropower sector of Nepal covering over 100 years of hydropower history.  

Zenisha Moktan Malhotra

Zenisha Moktan Malhotra is the Director of DM Foundation, a social initiative of IMS Group. She competed her undergraduation in Business Econonics, post graduation in Human Resources and MBA in General Management from the University of East Anglia in 2012. After being crowned Miss Tamang in 2006 and Miss Nepal in 2009, Zenisha worked with various regional and national societies to uplift the status of women and children in Nepal. As Vice President of Nepal Tamang Womens Association, she travelled to remote villages and heard the horror stories of tamang women due to poverty and lack of education. She initiated Project Muskaan in 2010 and started providing educational materials and building toilets in schools for young girls in village schools. Professionally, she held the position of HR Head of IMS Group for four years before shifting her efforts completely to DM Foundation, the company's social wing. Today, DM Foundation provides educational scholarships in reputed institutions like St. Xaviers and Budanilkantha School. With a strong background in social service and education in Business, Zenisha plans to dedicate her life to Corporate Social Responsibility.

Shilshila Acharya

CEO, Himalayan Climate Initiative

Shilshila Acharya is the CEO of HCI- a youth-driven Nepali non-profit organization committed to social inclusion and climate resilience. She pursued Masters in Environmental Science in Kathmandu and Norway. Committed to HCI’s vision of putting Nepali Economy in the path of Sustainable Development, she has been working with HCI since its inception in 2011. Being a strong believer of Sustainable Development, Shilshila co-founded and run ‘Hamri Bahini- The Green Angels Social Enterprise’ in 2013 that has created 700+ respectable jobs for disadvantaged women. She led the ‘No Thanks I Carry My Own Bag’ campaign to change policy to get plastic bags banned in Nepal. She believes in devoting her time and knowledge to convert her passion, as well as that of other youth, into effective and concerted action to create social impact by incubating and sustaining different social enterprises. She has been recognized as a promising Young Social Entrepreneur by the Global Good Fund- a US based Leadership Development Enterprise.

Dr. Sibesh Chandra Regmi

Dr. Sibesh Chandra Regmi earns Ph.D. in Development Studies with specialization in Gender and Development from University of Southampton, Southampton, UK . He has been working in the development sector in Nepal and the region for more than 30 years and have got more than 18 years of experience in senior management positions. He has led several organizations like Ipas Nepal (ongoing), USAID Nepal’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Project, World Neighbors South Asia and Asia, ActionAid Nepal (AAN), and New ERA. He also have managed Nepal Participatory Action Network (NEPAN) and Durga Bhawani Savings and Credit Cooperative, and hold a long association with civil society organizations in the capacity of Board Member, Chairperson, Advisor etc. There are many publications to his credit.
