Biraj M Karmacharya, a physician by training with post-graduation in Tropical Medicine completed PhD (Epidemiology, 2015) and MPH (Global Health-Leadership, Policy and Management, 2017) from the University of Washington as a Fulbright fellow. He founded and has been leading the Department of Community Programs at Dhulikhel Hospital-Kathmandu University, Nepal since 2006. In this position, he has been deeply involved in developing and setting up innovative community based health endeavors in rural Nepal. He is passionate about innovations in health care delivery in resource-limited settings. He firmly believes that the new frontier in advancing health care in low-income setting is through engagement with communities, concurrent incorporation of community empowerment and development, and a proactive involvement of interested partners in this pursuit. His dictum is that resources follow the dreams and is keen to develop a structured mechanism of engaging corporate sector in advancing health care in rural Nepal.
